Plans are currently being outlined for a village community in the Citrus Park area. The proposal, which will span 20 years, is centered on the heart of Citrus Park near the corner of Gunn Highway and Ehrlich Road.

The community's vision is that a section of Citrus Park will be turned into a village community which will include shopping, restaurants, local business offices, civic uses and apartments. The proposal provides for a well-balanced mix of land use. The plan is similar to the historic Hyde Park area in South Tampa.
